Thematic Unit
First Staff Development Day of the Year and what a great start! The History Department lead us in devising our new thematic unit based on relevance for learning. As it's 2014 the History department kicked off our first annual theme - WW1... Why must we remember? Fantastic ideas from all departments on how we could work on the theme.
To help give an example / structure to theme we used to online resource Football Remembers: The Christmas Truce. The pack can also be linked to on MySchool Equella. Just search' football and WW1'.
This is a great resource that saved us from reinventing the wheel. Working on the new unit together gave us a good chance to revisit our Key Stage 3 Revised Curriculum and to share our ideas and work with colleagues in other departments.
So as 'an army marches on its stomach' so also do teachers. A big thank you to Mr D for our Mexican style lunch
and giving a great feel good factor to the day.
