AFL in the classroom
I connect learning to last lesson and other subjects at the start
I ask pupils for success criteria rather than giving it to them – You tell be what makes a grade b?
I give thinking / Discussion time – Don’t be too quick to task
Questions – I ask OPEN questions – Risk taking
I differentiate with each specific group.
How do you know exactly what pupils know,
I make reference to CIEAG, Literacy, Numeracy,
My pupils know targets? ….. How to get there,
I mark for improvement.
My pupils have opportunity for peer and self-assessment.
With Exam Classes
I give the big picture to new courses
I give assessment guidance and calendar
I match pupil targets, deadlines, feedback sessions
I model answers for each grade band
I use sample work from previous years
My teacher set tasks give pupils opportunity to reach appropriate grade boundaries.
I encourage pupils to use Examining Board assessment criteria.
My pupils engage in peer and self-assess work.
